Lisa, Ann, and Maria have and three very different experiences related to surrogate motherhood. Summarize each’s experiences and current situation.
Discuss each of these situations, first from these women’s point of view. Them consider those of the men and children involved.
Overall, do you think the ability to choose surrogate parenthood is a good or bad thing? Discuss.
How important is it for you to have children and raise a family? How much technological help are you willing to seek in creating that family?
How important is it for your children to have your DNA?
If you had to choose, would you
    a) raise a child with another man’s/woman’s DNA (surrogacy and/or adoption)
    b) create a clone of yourself or your spouse
    c) not have children
How would you react if your parents told you that you were
    a) adopted
    b) a surrogate baby
    c) a clone
Monica says that surrogate motherhood is “no natural.” What do you think? Consider other now commonplace medical procedures that were once considered “unnatural.” (Example: organ transplants, blood transfusions, respirators, pacemakers, artificial hearts, even basic surgery.
How much technological help would you seek or accept for your unborn child. Would you allow doctors to alter his biology to determine whether it was a boy or girl? To make him or her healthier? Stronger? Smarter? Taller?
Imagine the changes future technology will mean for childbirth procedures and options. How will this change marriage and family?
