Did you know that Canada recognizes same-sex marriages?
This parade is held to show their pride. This is one of the biggest annual
events in Toronto. Yonge street is blocked and The Gay Pride Parade is
held on a grand scale. I remember it took about 3 hours. Basically, people
who are proud of anything can participate in it, but most of them are gays
and lesbians.
You can see the rainbow color in this picture. This is a symbol of homosexuality.
Most of participants in the parade put on rainbow-colored dresses, hats,
or something like that. They make those unique costumes by themselves every
year.
Moreover, the parade is assisted by Toronto city, so police cars and fire
engines are also gaudily decorated. Anyway, it's a big party!! You should
see it once.
Toronto International Film Festival is one of the most popular events in
Toronto. It is held in every September. It takes about 10 days. During
this period a lot of Hollywood stars come to Toronto to give a preview
of their new films.
Downtown, some ticket box offices are set up and you can buy some gala
or normal tickets there.
Actually, you can enjoy this festival in two different ways. One is of
course seeing new films. The second is meeting movie stars. In front of
some big halls, there is a red carpet. If you wait there patiently, you
will be able to get their autographs. It would be a good souvenir.
Every summer, a lot of festivals and events are held in Toronto, but this
time I chose Jazz Festival.
Many jazz singers and bands come to Toronto. People gather at special stages
or at jazz bars and enjoy their performance with some liquor. On weekends,
they play jazz from noon to the evening, so you can listen to it whenever
you want. And while the festival is being held, you can enjoy the privilege
of listening to jazz free of charge at some jazz bars. If you haven't listened
to real jazz, please take advantage of this opportunity and experience
the jazz world.
