  Kinds of tea

In England, black tea is a mainly consumed at present. And the consumption of tea is most prominent in the world. But around the 17th century, the most imported tea was green tea, and the second was oolong tea.

At this time, Britain was importing tea from the Netherlands. Netherlands purchased tea from China then sold it to Europe. At that time, there was no black tea in China, so British drank green tea or oolong tea. Afterwards, Britain defeated the Netherlands in th Anglo–Dutch Wars and Britain came to import tea directly from China.

British prefer oolong tea that is fermented tea to green tea that is not. Therefore, in China, black tea that is fermented more than oolong tea was made, and black tea was spread at once in Britain. Afterwards, Britain succeeded in the raising tea in India, and came to be able to produce the tea of high quality at a low cost.
