There is the most southern part of Hokkaido. Hakodate City is near theYunokawa hot springs.This city is also famous for historic . In 1859, it was developped a trading port along with Yokohama and Nagasaki City. After that time,it was introduced to the culture of the U.S. and Europe. In result, the city prosperousd. Then and the now, it still have the look of the street with a lot of atmosphere and building. I introduce some impression buildings. In Hakodate city.

1, Old Public Hall of Hakodate ward
Old Public Hall of Hakodate ward is a western style building. Construction started in May 1909, and was completed in September 1910. The hall consists of a main building and an annex.The main building is made of wood,and has two storeys. It is designed symmetrically with an upstairs veranda and skylights. The columns of the centre gate,both side entrances, and the second storey veranda are all distinctively carved in the same pattern. Because of the main building's unusual architectural designs, it was designated as an Inportant Cultural Property in May 1974.The annex was similarly designated in December 1980.

2, Old British Cosulate of Hakodate <Opening-port Memorial Hall>
British Consulate of Hakodate was appointed Hojison,the first consul since 1859, it was spectacles symbols Port Town Hakodate till 1934. At first,it was Temple syomyou in place of provisional consulate,but it was built in Motomatchi, next to west side the Greek Orthodox Church of Harisutosu in1863. Existing building was built by a building contractor ministry of British government in 1913. It was appointed as a cultured property in 1979. It opened there to the public in commemoration the seventy anniversary in 1992.

3,Goryoukaku
Goryoukaku is shaped like a big star.This is made from imitation of Europian Castle.Why is Goryoukaku the style of Europian castle? Because it harden a government office enclosed a stone wall and moat when the foreign forces attack. This moat form was five pointed star.Now there is a park many citizens visit there on festival and so on.
