Rule

When a judoka scores or something of significance happens the referee will yell the japanese name of that event over the mat. These exclamations are accompanied by various arm signals so that in every case it's clear what the referee meant. The most common signals from the referee are: Ippon! Wazari Yuko Koka An ippon is scored A wazari is scored A yuko is scored A koka is scored Osae Komi Toketa Matte While the referee makes this signal there is a control grip going on The control grip is over Ippon! Wazari Yuko Koka An ippon is scored A wazari is scored A yuko is scored A koka is scored Osae Komi Toketa Matte While the referee makes this signal there is a control grip going on The control grip is over Stop! short interruption of the match Stop! short interruption of the match Besides these scores a referee can decide to assign penalties to the judokas. The four penalties a referee can assign are Shido, Chui, Keikoku and Hansoku-Make who when given correspond with a Koka, Yuko, Wazari, or Ippon for the opponent.
